Janie
is a principal of GEO & JEM, Inc., a contract office furniture
dealership. In 1995, she attended her first Native American Chamber
Meeting. She met John Witty and Clyde Stryker. From that point
on, she became involved in the meetings. That year she was voted
in as the Secretary for the chamber. In 1998, Janie was voted
in as the President to the chamber.
During
the summer of 1999, Janie visited the Muscogee
Creek Nation in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to research her Native
heritage with John Witty and Bob Huckaby. This was the first time
for all three of them to see the Nation and research their common
background. The trip was very spiritual for her. They attended
a small Native American Church and were welcomed with open arms.
They were then invited to a feast, and met some wonderful people.
In
August of 2002, Janie was asked to become a delegate for Oregon
to the United States American Indian Chamber of Commerce. She
attended the meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At this meeting,
she was asked to be the Assistant Secretary to the Executive Board.
She accepted this position.
Her
dream is to have the Oregon Native American Chamber of Commerce
prosper with the help of Corporate America. She knows that her
involvement in the National Chamber will help her dreams come
true. Janie believes that we need to invest in our Native American
children. To help them receive a good education and foundation
from all the business in the chambers found nationwide.

Children are all of our futures"
