Kelly
Anne is a full-time sales support / assistant project manager at GEO
& JEM, Inc. Her company is very involved with the Chamber and is
very supportive of her role on the Board. She has a Bachelor of Science
in Speech Communication with a minor in Business Administration. Kelly
Anne is a member of the Muscogee
Creek Nation.
During the spring of 2000, Kelly Anne began to regularly attend the Chamber meetings. While finishing her degree with Portland State University, she was approached by Hazel Cole to help organize the first auction and create the scholarship application. The auction was held in October, and raised a little over $3,000 for the scholarship program. Kelly Anne then drafted letters and gained an additional $3,000 from the Oregon Lottery and Wells Fargo.
In
April of 2001, she was elected to the Board of Directors by the membership.
She continues to oversee the scholarship program, and tried to continually
improve the process and gain funding. The second annual scholarship
awards ceremony raised $6,000 for six scholarships.
Along
with the responsibility of the scholarship program, Kelly Anne writes
and publishes our newsletter, the Chamber Chatter, updates the website
and helps our Board and members in any way she can!
As
a student at Portland State University, and a recipient of the UMASP
scholarship, Kelly Anne resolved to help her fellow Native American
students in any way she could after graduation. Working for the Chamber
on the scholarship program has given her a wonderful opportunity and
chance to "give back" to the Native community.
